Monica Burciaga Meaux has been on the design desk for companies such as The American Bar Association, Levi Strauss & Co., Modern Luxury, Marriott Hotels, Sun-Times Media, The Chicago Architecture Center, Today's Chicago Woman and GateHouse Media, designing weekly/daily newspapers, magazines and brand content.

Monica graduated from Loyola University Chicago, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication/Studio Art: Photography, with a concentration in print publication design and branding.

While working as an editorial designer, she went on to simultaneously complete a Master of Arts at The School of the Art Institute Chicago (SAIC) in New Arts Journalism. This also allowed her the chance to build onto her design skills in new forms, such as web/digital, electronic publications and video editing.

Over the years, mentorship has also become a cornerstone of Monica’s design philosophy. She serves as a design judge for both professional and student journalism competitions (SPJ, ASBPE and IHSA) in addition to mentoring current art students from her alma mater through the Loyola Linked program.

Design also filters into her home through her decor and curation, including her historic newspaper collection. Her assortment includes a 1941 San Fransisco Chronicle detailing the attack on Pearl Harbor and a 1969 Philadelphia Inquirer celebrating the Moon landing.
